The Renewed Hope project inspection tour in the South-East has commenced in Ebonyi State, with federal officials beginning an on-the-ground assessment of major infrastructure projects under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The inspection team’s first stop was the Trans-Saharan Super Highway, a flagship road project aimed at improving regional connectivity and easing transportation challenges across the corridor. The project is one of the key federal infrastructure developments being showcased during the South-East phase of the nationwide inspection tour.
A major highlight of the project is the Onueke flyover, which spans 500 metres and is designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the busy axis. Officials say the structure will play a critical role in easing movement for commuters and heavy-duty vehicles operating along the route.
The 123.6-kilometre highway is constructed with rigid pavement technology and features a 12-metre-wide carriageway that accommodates both single and dual lanes. The project, valued at approximately N440 billion, is one of the largest road infrastructure investments currently underway in the region.

Speaking during the inspection, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, reaffirmed what he described as strong support for the administration in the South-East, noting that ongoing infrastructure projects are restoring confidence in federal presence across the region.
“Ebonyi State is solidly behind President Tinubu,” Umahi said, adding that the scale and spread of ongoing projects reflect a renewed commitment to balanced national development.
He explained that the Renewed Hope infrastructure drive is already delivering visible impact in the South-East, particularly in road construction and inter-state connectivity, which he described as critical to economic growth and regional integration.
Officials accompanying the minister also reviewed progress on construction milestones, with emphasis on quality assurance, project timelines, and compliance with engineering standards.
The inspection tour is expected to continue across other South-East states as part of a broader federal effort to assess ongoing projects and strengthen engagement with regional stakeholders.
The Renewed Hope initiative, launched by the federal government, focuses on accelerating infrastructure delivery across key sectors, including transportation, housing, and energy, with the aim of improving economic activity and national cohesion.
