Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has approved N810 million in financial support for 4,050 graduates of the Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development.

Each graduate will receive N200,000 to support the transition from vocational training into productive work and help them establish livelihoods.

Governor Sani announced the intervention on Thursday during the maiden graduation ceremony of the Institute held at the Balarabe Musa Campus in Rigachukun, Kaduna State.

He said the funds would be administered through the Kaduna State Enterprise Development Agency to ensure that the beneficiaries receive support as they begin their careers or establish small businesses.

According to the governor, the financial assistance is designed to address some of the immediate challenges graduates may face after completing their training.

He said the N200,000 could be used to purchase essential work tools, provide initial working capital for small businesses, cover professional registration fees or support transportation costs for graduates seeking employment opportunities.

Sani said the intervention was part of his administration’s efforts to equip young people with practical skills and create pathways from training to sustainable employment.

He noted that vocational and technical education remained important to addressing unemployment and expanding opportunities for young people, particularly in an economy where formal employment opportunities are limited.

The governor said the state government would continue to invest in skills acquisition and enterprise development to enable young people become economically productive.

The maiden graduation ceremony marked the completion of training for 4,050 graduates of the Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development.

The beneficiaries are expected to deploy the skills acquired during their training in various trades and areas of vocational development.

The governor urged the graduates to make effective use of the financial support and apply the skills they acquired to build sustainable livelihoods.

He also encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship, develop their businesses and contribute to the economic development of Kaduna State.

The N810 million intervention represents a direct investment by the state government in the graduates as they move from classroom and workshop training into the labour market.

The initiative is expected to reduce some of the financial barriers that often prevent newly trained artisans and vocational workers from starting businesses or securing employment.

Through the Kaduna State Enterprise Development Agency, the government is expected to oversee the administration of the funds to the 4,050 beneficiaries.

Governor Sani said his administration remained committed to creating an environment where young people can acquire relevant skills, access opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.
