A group of Abia State youths, artisans and small business owners under the umbrella of Great Aba Men has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group made the declaration on Saturday during a courtesy visit to Kalu at his country home in Bende, Abia State, where it also unveiled plans to organise a one-million-man march in Aba in support of Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Speaking on behalf of the group, its leader, Okwudiri Uche, pledged to mobilise voters across Abia and the South-East to support the President in the forthcoming election.
Uche said the group’s decision was informed by Kalu’s position as Deputy Speaker and what it described as the President’s support for the people of Abia State.
“From today, we have declared for Mr President. We will support Mr President and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu. Asiwaju is the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
He added that the group would work towards ensuring that Tinubu secures the highest number of votes in the South-East in 2027.
The group also congratulated Kalu on his appointment as Director-General II (South) of the PBAT/APC Presidential Campaign Council and requested that he become its Grand Patron.
Responding, Kalu commended the youths for their support for Tinubu and his political ambition, urging them to mobilise communities across the state to promote the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said the President’s support for the emergence of an Abia indigene as Deputy Speaker should be appreciated through political cooperation and support.
Kalu described the group as foot soldiers for the President, charging its members to take the administration’s message to communities, markets and streets across Aba and other parts of the state.
“From today, you have become Mr President’s foot soldiers and will take the message of Renewed Hope to every nook and cranny of Aba. I declare you the sons of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker also promised to support the group with a campaign bus to facilitate its planned mobilisation activities.
He urged members to develop an effective strategy for reaching voters across Abia, particularly in Aba, which is a major commercial centre in the South-East.
Kalu expressed confidence that Bende, his local government area, would deliver substantial votes for Tinubu, while challenging the group to demonstrate its support through visible grassroots mobilisation.
“Every street will come out to show that we are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In Bende, the President will harvest all the votes because the Deputy Speaker is from this local government,” he said.
He further urged the group to expand its activities across the state and ensure that the President’s supporters were visible in Aba ahead of the elections.
The planned one-million-man march is expected to form part of the group’s mobilisation efforts as political activities gradually build towards the 2027 general elections.
However, the electoral impact of the group’s declaration will depend on its ability to translate its stated support into voter mobilisation and votes at the polls.
