Dada Olusegun

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has been named among the distinguished recipients of the African Public Relations Excellence Award at the forthcoming 15th edition of The Voice Achievers Award and Business Summit scheduled to hold in London, United Kingdom.

The recognition, announced by the organisers of the prestigious pan-African event, places Olusegun among an elite group of African leaders, innovators and public servants whose contributions have significantly impacted governance, communication and social development across the continent.

The award ceremony, organised annually by The Voice News Magazine, a Netherlands-based publication, will take place on August 21, 2026, at the Hilton London Kensington Hotel. The event is expected to attract policymakers, business leaders, diplomats, academics and members of the African diaspora from across the globe.

Olusegun’s selection follows his contributions to digital governance and public communication since his appointment as Special Assistant to the President on Social Media on July 10, 2023. In the role, he has overseen efforts to strengthen the Presidency’s digital engagement strategy, expand citizen interaction and improve access to information on government policies and programmes.

As National Convener of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre, Olusegun has played a key role in coordinating digital campaigns aimed at promoting government initiatives while countering misinformation across online platforms. His work has focused on simplifying complex government policies and making them more accessible to Nigerians, particularly young people.

Among the initiatives frequently highlighted by supporters are his efforts to communicate programmes such as the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG), the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), CrediCorp and other economic and tax reform measures introduced by the administration.

Observers say his approach has contributed to a more interactive style of presidential communication, moving beyond traditional press statements to increased engagement with citizens through digital platforms.

The upcoming summit will be held under the theme, “Putting Africa in the Right Perspective—Focusing on Mental Empowerment for Economic Inclusion and Growth.” Organisers said the programme will feature a business dialogue session, panel discussions, networking opportunities and an evening gala designed to celebrate individuals making significant contributions to Africa’s development.

In addition to receiving the award, Olusegun is expected to participate in discussions alongside more than 30 African honourees and thought leaders from various sectors.

The recognition places him among a distinguished list of past recipients honoured by the platform, including former African heads of state, diplomats, jurists and public figures who have contributed to leadership and development across the continent.

Established in 2012 in the Netherlands, The Voice Achievers Award has evolved into an internationally recognised platform that celebrates excellence within Africa and its diaspora. Previous editions have been hosted in cities including Amsterdam, Dubai, Nairobi, Banjul and Lagos.

Following the announcement, congratulatory messages poured in from members of the presidential media team, political associates, supporters and well-wishers, many of whom described the honour as recognition of Olusegun’s efforts in advancing digital communication and public engagement within government.

The award is expected to further strengthen his profile within the field of strategic communications while highlighting Nigeria’s growing influence in digital governance and public relations on the African continent.
