The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State, as preparations enter their final stage.
The materials, which include ballot papers, result sheets, and other critical documents, were moved under tight security to designated locations across the state to ensure transparency and prevent tampering.
INEC officials confirmed that the delivery process was carried out in the presence of security agencies, political party representatives, and election observers to guarantee credibility.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti assured stakeholders that all logistics arrangements have been concluded, adding that personnel deployment and training of ad hoc staff have also been completed.
Security agencies, including the police and civil defence corps, have been placed on high alert, with patrols intensified across major towns and border communities to prevent electoral violence and disruption.
INEC reiterated its commitment to a free, fair, and credible election, urging voters to come out peacefully and perform their civic duty without fear or intimidation.
Political parties have also concluded final campaigns, with candidates making last-minute appeals to voters across the state.
Observers note that the early deployment of sensitive materials is a critical step in strengthening confidence in the electoral process and reducing the risk of logistical failures on election day.
The election is expected to draw national attention as Ekiti once again sets the tone for democratic practice in Nigeria.
