APC Extends 2027 Election Form Deadlines

The All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) APC has extended the timelines for the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, as well as the submission of completed documents for the 2027 General Elections.

The decision was taken on Thursday during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja, aimed at giving aspirants more time to complete their application processes ahead of the party’s internal selection activities.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Durosinmi Meseko, said the adjustment was approved after reviewing ongoing preparations and feedback from party stakeholders across the country.

According to him, the sale of nomination forms will now close at midnight on Monday, May 4, 2026. He added that the submission of completed forms and all required supporting documents has been shifted to midnight on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Meseko explained that the extension reflects the party’s commitment to inclusiveness and fairness in the build-up to the 2027 general elections, allowing more interested members to participate in the process without being constrained by time.

He also noted that the NWC remains focused on strengthening internal democracy and ensuring that all aspirants are given equal opportunity within the party’s guidelines and electoral framework.

The APC, which is Nigeria’s ruling party, has in recent weeks intensified early preparations for the 2027 elections, including setting guidelines for aspirants and reviewing logistics for party primaries expected to hold across various levels of government.

Party officials say the extension is not expected to alter the overall timetable for primaries and other pre-election activities, which remain on course as scheduled.

With the new deadlines, aspirants who are yet to purchase or submit their forms have a short additional window to complete their processes before the party proceeds to the next phase of its election preparations.
