The Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Engr. Dr. Peer Lubasch, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for accelerating infrastructure development in Abuja, particularly through road and transport projects that are improving mobility across the nation’s capital.

Lubasch gave the commendation during a gala dinner organised to mark the conclusion of 31 consecutive days of project flag-offs and commissioning ceremonies held as part of activities celebrating Abuja’s 50th anniversary.

He said the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had delivered critical transport infrastructure, including roads, bridges and public facilities, that would enhance connectivity, ease traffic movement and stimulate economic growth.

According to him, Abuja residents are the greatest beneficiaries of the ongoing investments, as improved transport infrastructure is making movement easier while supporting commerce and urban development.

The Julius Berger boss also praised President Tinubu for placing infrastructure development at the centre of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the administration’s commitment is evident in the completion and delivery of strategic projects across the FCT.

He reserved special commendation for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, whom he credited with reviving Abuja’s infrastructure agenda through the completion of long-abandoned projects and the execution of new road and urban renewal initiatives.

Reflecting on the capital’s development over the past 50 years, Lubasch said Abuja had evolved into one of Africa’s leading planned cities, adding that the current pace of project delivery has restored confidence in the city’s development trajectory.

He noted that communities across the FCT are witnessing significant transformation driven by improved transport infrastructure and urban renewal projects, positioning Abuja for sustained growth.

Speaking on project execution, Lubasch praised the FCT Administration’s emphasis on timely delivery, stressing that infrastructure projects should be completed and commissioned promptly to maximise public benefit.

He described the Abuja@50 celebration as an opportunity to recognise the leadership, professionalism and collaboration that have driven the successful execution of major infrastructure projects.

Lubasch reaffirmed Julius Berger’s longstanding contribution to Abuja’s development, recalling the company’s role in constructing many of the capital’s major roads, bridges, public buildings and engineering landmarks since the city’s early years.

“Abuja is more than a project location for Julius Berger; it is part of our corporate history. We are proud to have contributed to its development from the beginning and honoured to continue supporting its future growth,” he said.

He reiterated the company’s commitment to partnering with government in delivering transport infrastructure, urban renewal projects and public facilities that will strengthen Abuja’s position as a modern, connected and competitive capital city.

Lubasch also acknowledged the contributions of other construction companies, consultants, engineers, suppliers and skilled workers involved in the FCTA’s infrastructure programme, describing the achievements as a collective success for Nigeria’s construction industry.

He stressed that while contractors compete for projects, they remain united in the shared objective of delivering quality infrastructure that supports economic development, improves transportation and enhances the quality of life for Nigerians.
