Mo Bimpe

Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, has threatened legal action against a social media user over what she described as a false and defamatory claim alleging paternity fraud involving her husband, actor Lateef Adedimeji.

The actress reacted after an X (formerly Twitter) user, identified as @iam_Mardiyyah, shared a post alleging that Adedimeji had sought a divorce after a blood donation attempt at Ilorin General Hospital reportedly failed due to incompatibility and that a subsequent DNA test allegedly showed he was not the biological father of their child.

The claim quickly gained attention on social media, prompting widespread reactions from fans before Mo Bimpe dismissed it as entirely fabricated.

In a series of posts shared via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, the actress condemned the allegation, describing it as malicious and an attempt to tarnish her family’s reputation.

She warned that those responsible for originating and circulating the false narrative had crossed the line by involving innocent children and spreading misinformation using fake photographs.

According to the actress, the rumour has no basis in fact, stressing that she would no longer ignore defamatory attacks targeting her personal life and family.

Mo Bimpe stated that legal action would be taken against individuals responsible for creating and disseminating the false claims, noting that social media should not be used as a platform for character assassination.

She also urged internet users to verify information before sharing it online, warning that false reports can have serious emotional and reputational consequences for those affected.

The actress expressed disappointment that some social media users continue to fabricate stories involving celebrities to attract attention and engagement, despite the potential legal implications.

Neither Lateef Adedimeji nor representatives of Ilorin General Hospital had publicly responded to the claims as of the time of filing this report.

Legal experts have repeatedly warned that individuals who publish or circulate defamatory content online may be held liable under Nigeria’s civil and criminal laws if the information is proven to be false and damaging.

Mo Bimpe’s decision to pursue legal action underscores the growing determination among public figures to challenge online harassment and protect their reputations against unverified and misleading claims circulating on social media.
