President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that ongoing infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reflects a broader national transformation agenda, as he commissioned the newly completed Collector Road C01 and its accompanying bridge in Abuja.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday, the President said the modernisation of the nation’s capital serves as a model for similar projects being replicated across the country to drive equitable growth and economic expansion.
He described infrastructure as a key driver of prosperity, noting that investments in roads and bridges open up communities, attract investors, and stimulate national development. According to him, the newly commissioned road is evidence of the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises.
Tinubu said the project, located within the Institution and Research District, has already created hundreds of jobs for young Nigerians during construction, adding that it demonstrates the impact of government policies at the grassroots level.

The President recalled that the project was initiated following complaints by the Body of Benchers over poor access roads and traffic congestion affecting the Nigerian Law School. He said the government responded swiftly by approving the project under emergency procurement, ensuring its completion within months.
He noted that the road and bridge have significantly improved mobility for students, lecturers, and residents, while enhancing safety and creating a more conducive environment for academic and professional activities.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, Tinubu pledged continued investment in infrastructure across urban centres, satellite towns, and rural communities, stressing that all Nigerians deserve the benefits of good governance.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, in his remarks, thanked the President for his support and assured residents that development efforts would continue across all districts in the capital. He also commended the administration for providing the necessary resources and policy backing, including the removal of the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account.
Minister of State for FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, expressed appreciation to the President for enabling what she described as unprecedented project execution in the territory, while calling on residents to protect public infrastructure.
Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, said the road project aligns with the FCT master plan and will serve as a critical link for research and educational institutions in the area.
The Collector Road C01 project includes a bridge, underground drainage systems, and solar-powered street lighting, providing an alternative route and improving connectivity within the district and surrounding communities.
