The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured voters in Ekiti State that their votes will count in upcoming elections, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and credibility.

INEC officials gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting in the state, where they outlined measures put in place to ensure free, fair and credible polls. These include improved voter accreditation systems and enhanced security arrangements.

The commission said it has strengthened its technological infrastructure to minimise irregularities and ensure accurate result transmission. “We are committed to delivering an election that reflects the will of the people,” an official stated.

Political parties and civil society groups have called for vigilance, urging INEC to uphold its promises amid concerns about electoral malpractice. Observers noted that public confidence in the electoral process remains a critical factor in voter turnout.

Security agencies have also pledged to support INEC by maintaining law and order before, during and after the elections.

Residents expressed cautious optimism, with many saying they hope the assurances will translate into a credible process.
