Former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he has died, assuring Nigerians that he is alive, in good health and recovering well after undergoing surgery for a back-related condition.
Yuguda addressed reporters on Saturday, describing the reports of his death as false and assuring members of the public that there was no cause for alarm over his health.
The former governor disclosed that he recently underwent surgery to treat a back-related condition but said he has since recovered and is responding well to treatment.
According to Yuguda, he is currently spending most of his time at home on the advice of his doctors as he continues his recovery.
He expressed gratitude to God for his recovery and said he remained in good spirits despite the circulation of reports falsely announcing his death.
The former governor’s clarification followed reports that spread across social media platforms, prompting concerns among his family members, associates and political contacts.

Yuguda urged those who had encountered the reports to disregard them, stressing that he remains alive and recovering under medical supervision.
He said his decision to address the reports was necessary to put an end to the speculation and reassure those who had become concerned about his wellbeing.
The former Bauchi governor has remained a notable figure in Nigerian politics since leaving office. He served as governor of Bauchi State from 2007 to 2015, after previously serving as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Minister of Transport.
Yuguda’s political career also included service at the federal level before his election as governor.
His latest statement comes amid the increasing spread of unverified reports about public figures on social media, where claims about deaths and illnesses can circulate widely before they are independently confirmed.
By personally addressing the reports, Yuguda clarified that his recent absence from public activities was connected to his recovery from surgery and not to any life-threatening development.
The former governor said he was grateful for the prayers and concern expressed by people who contacted him following the reports.
He maintained that he is responding positively after the medical procedure and continues to follow the guidance of his doctors while recuperating at home.
Yuguda’s clarification is expected to put to rest the reports of his alleged death and reassure his supporters, friends and associates that he remains alive and recovering.
He also encouraged the public to be cautious about unverified information shared on social media, particularly reports concerning the health or death of prominent individuals.
