President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s peace, unity and economic prosperity following his Umrah pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, saying his prayers centred on the well-being and future of the country.

The President disclosed this on Monday, November 2, 2026, after concluding his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he performed the lesser Islamic pilgrimage and participated in prayers at the Holy Kaaba in Makkah.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and members of his delegation the rare privilege of entering the sacred structure.

In a statement reflecting on the spiritual journey, the President described the opportunity as a deeply significant experience, particularly because it provided an opportunity to seek divine guidance for Nigeria and its citizens.

He said his prayers focused on national peace, unity, stability and prosperity, stressing the importance of building a country where citizens could live together in harmony irrespective of their religious, ethnic or cultural differences.

The President also expressed appreciation to the Saudi leadership for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation throughout the visit.

Tinubu had earlier performed the Umrah rites at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, in Makkah, where he offered prayers of gratitude and sought Allah’s continued guidance and protection for Nigeria.

Speaking to journalists after the spiritual exercise on October 30, the President described the pilgrimage as significant to his personal faith and responsibilities as Nigeria’s leader.

He said he was grateful for the opportunity to pray for Nigerians and expressed hope that the country would experience lasting peace, happiness and harmony.

The Presidency had earlier disclosed that Tinubu travelled to Saudi Arabia to undertake the spiritual exercise and pray for Nigeria’s stability and continued progress.

The visit comes at a period when the country continues to grapple with security challenges, economic pressures and political tensions.

Nigeria has faced persistent security threats, including insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and communal violence, while households continue to contend with the effects of economic reforms and rising living costs.

The President has repeatedly maintained that his administration remains committed to addressing these challenges through economic policies, security interventions and development initiatives.

Tinubu’s prayers for national prosperity also come as his government seeks to strengthen investor confidence, expand infrastructure and improve economic opportunities.

While the pilgrimage was primarily religious in nature, the President’s message has reinforced his administration’s emphasis on national unity and peaceful coexistence.

He reaffirmed his determination to serve Nigerians and pursue a prosperous future for the country.
