Galatasaray forward, Rafael Leão, has praised teammate Victor Osimhen for handing him a second-half penalty during their 4-0 Süper Lig victory over Konyaspor, describing the unselfish act as a reflection of team unity.
Leão, who completed a transfer to the Turkish champions from AC Milan during the summer, had been seeking his first goal for the club. Osimhen, Galatasaray’s primary penalty taker, opened the scoring in the 12th minute and had an opportunity to secure a brace when a spot-kick was awarded in the 54th minute following a VAR consultation.
Rather than taking the kick, the Nigerian striker surrendered the ball to Leão, who converted from the spot in the 55th minute to open his account.
Speaking to Galatasaray’s official media channels after the match, the Portuguese international expressed gratitude for Osimhen’s gesture, noting that the forward understood his eagerness to score.

“I really appreciate that moment. He knew I’ve been working a lot and searching for my first goal,” Leão said.
“We were speaking, and today or yesterday was the birth of his second child. I told him to score two goals. He could have scored the second goal, but he gave me the ball. It’s about the kind of attitude we have, so we have a great group”.
The match capped an event-filled week for Osimhen, following the birth of his second daughter, Liora Audrey, and his two-goal performance in Galatasaray’s recent 2-1 derby victory over Fenerbahçe.
