Governor Dapo Abiodun has officially endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as his preferred successor for the 2027 gubernatorial election in Ogun State.

The announcement, made during a high-level meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus, effectively puts an end to months of speculation over who would inherit the party’s ticket.

Abiodun described Adeola as a seasoned politician with the experience and capacity to sustain the state’s development trajectory. He urged party members to rally behind the senator to ensure continuity in governance.

The governor highlighted key achievements of his administration in infrastructure, economic growth, and social development, stating that maintaining momentum requires a leader who understands the vision and priorities of the current government.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, has built a reputation as a grassroots mobilizer and influential figure within the APC. His endorsement is expected to reshape political alignments within the state as aspirants reconsider their ambitions.

Party stakeholders at the meeting expressed support for the governor’s decision, though some observers note that internal dissent may still emerge as the election approaches.

Political analysts believe the early endorsement gives Adeola a strategic advantage, allowing him to consolidate support and strengthen his campaign structure well ahead of the primaries.

In his response, Adeola thanked the governor and party leaders for their confidence, pledging to uphold the values of good governance and inclusive development if elected.

The development marks a significant moment in Ogun politics, signaling the beginning of what is likely to be a closely watched succession race.
