Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged women in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts and strengthen public trust as preparations gradually begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing women leaders and party stakeholders at a gathering organized by the APC women’s wing, the First Lady emphasized the importance of unity, inclusiveness, and sustained engagement with communities across the country.
She said women remain vital to the success of the party and democratic governance, noting that their influence at the grassroots level can help shape public perception and strengthen support for government policies.
According to her, trust remains one of the most valuable assets in politics, and party members must work diligently to maintain strong relationships with citizens. She encouraged women leaders to serve as ambassadors of good governance by promoting transparency, dialogue, and community development initiatives.

The First Lady highlighted the role women played in previous electoral victories and expressed confidence that their contributions would remain critical in future political contests. She urged participants to focus on empowerment programmes, voter education, and outreach activities that directly impact local communities.
APC women leaders at the event pledged to expand engagement with women, youths, and vulnerable groups across the country. They said efforts were already underway to strengthen party structures and improve grassroots participation.
Several speakers commended the First Lady’s advocacy for women’s inclusion in governance and leadership. They noted that increased female participation in politics could contribute to more balanced representation and improved policy outcomes.
The gathering also featured discussions on strategies for strengthening party cohesion, enhancing membership drives, and addressing challenges facing women in politics. Participants called for greater support for female candidates seeking elective positions.
Political analysts observed that women constitute a significant voting bloc in Nigeria and are increasingly playing prominent roles in political mobilization and civic engagement. They argued that sustained grassroots outreach could influence future electoral outcomes.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by APC women leaders to expand political participation and strengthen the party’s presence at the community level.
Observers say the emphasis on grassroots engagement reflects growing recognition among political actors that local-level trust and voter connection will remain key factors in determining success in future elections.
