President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the remodeled Abuja City Gate, marking a key milestone in efforts to modernise the Federal Capital Territory and enhance its aesthetic appeal.
The newly redesigned structure, located at the main entry point into the city, features upgraded architecture, improved lighting and enhanced security installations. Officials say the project reflects Abuja’s evolving status as a modern capital.
At the commissioning ceremony, the first lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu described the project as symbolic of Nigeria’s broader renewal agenda. He said investments in infrastructure are essential to economic growth and national pride.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory noted that the project is part of a wider urban renewal programme aimed at upgrading roads, public spaces and critical infrastructure across Abuja.
Residents and visitors have welcomed the development, with many praising the improved outlook of the city entrance. Authorities say the upgrade will also boost tourism and create a more welcoming environment.
The project involved collaboration between government agencies and private contractors, with emphasis placed on durability and sustainability. Security features were also enhanced to ensure better monitoring of movement into the city.
Urban development experts say such projects contribute to city branding and can attract investment if complemented by broader infrastructure improvements.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Abuja into a world-class capital, noting that more projects are underway. He urged citizens to take ownership of public infrastructure and support maintenance efforts.
