An Ekiti State High Court has sentenced two individuals to 50 years in prison each for kidnapping, in a judgment aimed at deterring rising cases of abduction in the state.
The court found the defendants guilty of abducting a victim and demanding ransom, following a trial that included witness testimonies and evidence presented by prosecutors. The judge ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Legal experts say the lengthy sentence underscores the judiciary’s commitment to tackling kidnapping, which has become a major security concern across parts of Nigeria.
