The National Youth Service Corps NYSC, has yet to officially announce a passing-out date for members of the 2025 Batch B Stream II, with available updates indicating that the scheme had only fixed the date for the Stream I set.

The uncertainty comes as prospective outgoing corps members await details of the winding-up and passing-out programme that will formally mark the completion of their mandatory one-year national service.

The NYSC has been conducting passing-out exercises on a low-key basis, with Certificates of National Service distributed at the Local Government level rather than through a single nationwide parade.

Available records show that the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members were scheduled to pass out on July 9, 2026, following the completion of winding-up activities that included final clearance and job advisory programmes.

However, information currently available indicates that a specific date for the 2025 Batch B Stream II passing-out exercise has not been announced.

The development means members of the Stream II set will have to wait for an official communication from NYSC before making final arrangements for certificate collection and other activities connected with the completion of their service year.

The passing-out exercise traditionally follows a series of administrative activities, including clearance by Local Government Inspectors, endorsement of final clearance by Zonal Inspectors and sensitisation on employment and post-service opportunities.

The NYSC has also continued to place emphasis on preparing corps members for life after national service through its Job Advisory and Counselling activities.

The development comes at a significant period for the scheme, following the Federal Government’s approval of proposed reforms aimed at restructuring NYSC operations.

Among the reforms announced in June were plans for a longer orientation programme, specialised streams and changes intended to improve skills development, security and deployment of corps members. The reforms, however, require legislative changes before all aspects can take effect.

For the 2025 Batch B Stream II corps members, the immediate priority remains completion of their service obligations and awaiting the official winding-up and passing-out schedule.

Corps members are advised to rely on official NYSC channels and communications from their State Secretariats and Local Government Inspectors rather than unverified dates circulating on social media.

The eventual passing-out exercise will mark the end of the corps members’ year of service and the beginning of their transition into the labour market, entrepreneurship and other post-service pursuits.
