The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has begun consultations on its campaign strategy ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with Deputy Director-General, South II, Benjamin Kalu, meeting the council’s Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to discuss the task ahead.
Kalu disclosed the meeting following the inaugural gathering of the campaign council, saying discussions focused on aligning strategies and preparing party leaders and stakeholders for the campaign.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives said he was committed to working with party leaders and stakeholders across the country to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He said the council had begun work towards building the political support required to secure victory for the President in the forthcoming election.
“Following the inaugural meeting of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, I held a crucial meeting with the Director-General of the Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to deliberate on the task ahead and align on our campaign strategy,” Kalu said.
He added that his role as Deputy Director-General, South II, would involve working with party stakeholders to strengthen mobilisation efforts and advance the President’s electoral ambition.
“The task is clear, and the work has begun. Together, we are ready to deliver,” he said.
The meeting signals the beginning of strategic consultations within the APC campaign structure as the party prepares to defend its position in the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign council is expected to coordinate political engagement, stakeholder mobilisation and other activities aimed at communicating the administration’s policies and securing support from voters across the country.
Kalu’s appointment as Deputy Director-General, South II, places him among the party officials expected to contribute to campaign coordination in the southern part of the country.
His position as Deputy Speaker also gives him a prominent role in the party’s political activities, particularly in the South-East, where the APC is seeking to consolidate its support base.
The party’s mobilisation efforts are expected to involve elected officials, state and local party structures, community leaders and other political stakeholders.
The campaign will also take place against the backdrop of public debate over the administration’s economic policies, security challenges and the cost of living, issues likely to influence voter assessments ahead of the election.
