President Bola Tinubu has commended the City Boy Movement and other youth support groups for promoting his administration’s policies, reaffirming his commitment to expanding opportunities for young Nigerians through education, digital skills development and access to credit.

Tinubu gave the assurance during a gathering at the State House, where he acknowledged the contributions of youth groups to his administration’s engagement with young people and efforts to communicate its programmes to the public.

The President said youth empowerment remained an important component of his administration’s development agenda, stressing the need to equip young Nigerians with the skills, resources and opportunities required to participate meaningfully in the country’s economic growth.

He highlighted initiatives such as student education loans, digital skills development and access to credit as key interventions aimed at improving young people’s prospects in education, entrepreneurship and employment.

According to the President, expanding access to education and economic opportunities is essential to enabling young Nigerians to develop their potential and contribute to national development.

The student loan initiative is designed to ease financial barriers to higher education by providing eligible students with access to funding for their studies. The programme is also intended to support students from households that may struggle to meet the cost of tertiary education.

Tinubu’s emphasis on digital skills reflects the growing importance of technology in the global economy, particularly as businesses increasingly rely on digital platforms, software and technology-driven services.

Improved access to digital training could help young Nigerians compete for opportunities in technology, remote work, digital entrepreneurship and other emerging sectors.

Access to credit is another area highlighted by the President, particularly for young people seeking to establish or expand small businesses. Limited financing has remained a challenge for many entrepreneurs who lack the collateral or financial records required to secure conventional bank loans.

The administration’s focus on youth empowerment comes amid continuing concerns about unemployment, the rising cost of living and the difficulties many young Nigerians face in securing stable livelihoods.

Youth organisations have also become increasingly visible in political mobilisation, public communication and advocacy, making their engagement with government an important part of the country’s political landscape.

The City Boy Movement is among the groups associated with support for Tinubu, with its activities contributing to efforts to mobilise young people around the President and his political agenda.

However, translating political support into tangible improvements in young people’s lives will depend on the implementation, accessibility and effectiveness of government programmes.

For many Nigerians, the impact of these initiatives will be measured by whether they lead to improved educational access, sustainable employment, affordable financing and greater opportunities for young entrepreneurs.

Tinubu’s latest remarks reinforce his administration’s stated commitment to youth inclusion, with education, technology and entrepreneurship remaining central to its approach to expanding opportunities for the country’s younger population.
