Gospel singer Toluwanisings has died after reportedly slumping on a staircase and being taken to three hospitals, with the first two allegedly refusing to admit him before the third facility accepted him and later confirmed his death.

Seun Oloketuyi, chief executive officer of the Best of Nollywood awards, disclosed the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, raising concerns about the challenges patients may face when seeking urgent medical attention.

According to Oloketuyi, Toluwanisings slumped on the stairs and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, the facility reportedly declined to admit him, forcing those accompanying him to seek medical assistance elsewhere.

The singer was subsequently taken to a second hospital, which also allegedly refused to accept him. He was eventually transported to a third facility, where he was received but later confirmed dead.

The circumstances surrounding the reported hospital rejections have not been independently established, and details of the singer’s medical condition before his death remain unclear.

Toluwanisings’ death was first announced publicly on Wednesday by Pelumi Olajengbesi, convener of the Concerned Nigerians and the Citizens’ Participation in Governance initiative (COPA), in a post on Instagram.

The singer’s family later confirmed the development through his official social media page, bringing an end to the uncertainty surrounding reports of his death.

The news has drawn attention to the importance of timely emergency medical care, particularly when patients arrive at health facilities in critical conditions. The reported experience also raises questions about emergency admission procedures and the responsibilities of hospitals when confronted with patients requiring immediate attention.

However, the reasons the first two hospitals allegedly declined to admit the singer have not been disclosed. It is also unclear whether the facilities lacked the necessary medical resources, had other operational constraints or made their decisions under different circumstances.

Further details about Toluwanisings’ final moments, the identity of the hospitals involved and the medical cause of death were not immediately available.

His death is a loss to his family, supporters and the gospel music community. As tributes and reactions emerge, additional information from the family and relevant health authorities may help clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The reported sequence of events has renewed attention on the need for effective emergency response systems that can help critically ill patients receive prompt assessment and appropriate medical care.
