- Ruth Kadiri Urges NAFDAC To In ...

Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to intensify efforts to curb the circulation of fake and potentially harmful products in Nigeria.
Kadiri made the call in a recent video shared on her Instagram page, where she expressed concern over the safety of products being sold and consumed by Nigerians.
The actress warned that counterfeit and contaminated food, drinks, medicines, cosmetics and household products could pose serious risks to public health and human lives.
According to her, many Nigerians purchase products believing they are safe, only to be exposed to substances that may be poorly produced, contaminated or counterfeit.
“Dear Nigerians, I’m speaking to you today with a heavy heart and deep concern about the circulation of fake products in our country,” Kadiri said.
She stressed that the issue should not be viewed merely as a business or regulatory problem, arguing that the consequences could directly affect the lives and wellbeing of consumers.
“Every day, people buy food, drinks, medicine, cosmetics, and household products believing that they are safe, but sadly, some are poorly produced, contaminated, harmful and mostly fake,” she said.
Kadiri further warned about the possible consequences for vulnerable consumers, particularly children, who may be exposed to harmful substances through contaminated or counterfeit products.

“This is not just a business problem; it’s a threat to human life. Imagine little children battling kidney failure,” she added.
The actress urged NAFDAC and other relevant authorities to strengthen surveillance, enforcement and public awareness to protect consumers from dangerous products.
Her concerns come amid continuing public discussions over the safety and authenticity of products in the Nigerian market, with consumers often urged to check product registration details, packaging and other identifying information before making purchases.
Kadiri also encouraged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspected fake or unsafe products to the appropriate authorities.
The actress’ intervention has drawn attention to the need for stronger collaboration between regulatory agencies, manufacturers, retailers and consumers in tackling the circulation of substandard and counterfeit products across the country.
