The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has opened its online recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in serving as ad hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.
INEC said the INECPRES portal was activated on September 18, 2026, and will remain open until midnight on November 18, 2026.
The recruitment is part of the commission’s preparations for the 2027 elections, which will require thousands of temporary election personnel across the country.
According to INEC’s notice, prospective applicants are expected to complete their applications through the designated INECPRES channels within the specified period.
The commission said the web version of the platform is available for applicants using laptops and desktop computers, while an Android application is also available.
Positions available under the recruitment exercise include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.
The ad hoc staff play important operational roles during elections, including supporting polling units, managing election materials, assisting with accreditation procedures and carrying out other responsibilities assigned by the commission.
INEC has advised interested Nigerians to review the eligibility requirements before submitting their applications.
Among the categories that may be eligible for some of the positions are serving members of the National Youth Service Corps, penultimate students of tertiary institutions with relevant information technology skills, certain public servants and qualified former corps members.
Applicants are also required to meet other conditions stipulated by the commission.
One of the requirements highlighted by INEC is that applicants must not be members of political parties or have expressed support for a political party or candidate.
The commission’s recruitment process is designed to build the temporary workforce required to conduct the 2027 elections across polling units and registration areas.
INEC has urged prospective applicants to use the official channels provided for the exercise and complete their applications before the deadline.
The commission’s announcement comes as political activities and preparations for the 2027 general elections continue to intensify.

The commission has continued to emphasise the importance of qualified and properly trained personnel to the conduct of credible electoral processes.
The 2027 recruitment exercise is expected to draw applicants from different professional, educational and public-service backgrounds as INEC prepares for another nationwide electoral cycle.
