President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on his birthday, praising his leadership, reforms and efforts to rebuild the state.

Tinubu, in a birthday message marking Zulum’s anniversary on August 25, described the governor as an exceptional leader whose academic background and practical approach to governance had contributed to development and stability in Borno.

The President commended Zulum for prioritising projects designed to improve the lives of residents, particularly investments in human capital and essential services.

He highlighted the governor’s focus on rural healthcare facilities, schools and skills acquisition centres, saying such projects would have lasting benefits for communities across the state.

“Governor Zulum is one of the exceptional governors of this dispensation. He brought the rigour and discipline of academia into governance, introduced landmark reforms, and fostered development in Borno,” Tinubu said.

The President also praised Zulum’s ability to bring people together around common objectives, noting his contributions to national unity and peaceful coexistence.

Tinubu thanked the governor for his support and encouraged him to maintain what he described as exemplary leadership in Borno State.

“As he celebrates this birthday, I wish him more years of good health and renewed strength as he continues to serve Borno and the nation,” the President said.

Zulum, a professor and former university lecturer, became governor of Borno in 2019 and was re-elected in 2023. His administration has focused heavily on reconstruction, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and the resettlement of communities affected by years of insurgency.

The governor’s tenure has unfolded against the backdrop of Borno’s long-running security crisis, which has displaced communities and placed enormous pressure on state institutions.

Tinubu’s message therefore places Zulum’s birthday within a broader assessment of his role in rebuilding a state that has faced major humanitarian and security challenges.

The President’s commendation also reflects the strategic importance of Borno, particularly in ongoing efforts to restore economic activity and improve living conditions in communities affected by insecurity.

As the governor marks another year, Tinubu urged him to sustain his commitment to public service and continue working for the people of Borno and Nigeria.

The President’s birthday message combines personal goodwill with recognition of Zulum’s record in governance, particularly his emphasis on development projects intended to reach communities beyond major urban centres.

Tinubu wished the governor renewed strength and good health as he continues his second term and contributes to the development of Borno State and the country.
