The All Progressives Congress, APC, has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 general elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other senior party leaders taking key positions in the campaign structure.

A statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy and Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, said Tinubu would serve as chairman of the council, while Shettima would be the vice chairman.

APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was also named vice chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General of the campaign council.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary, with APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman appointed deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.

The council will be supported by a team of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy directors-general for the campaign across the southern and northern regions. They will work with Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole was named Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration in the same capacity.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

Faleke will coordinate zonal directors across the country, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye in the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme in the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife in the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe in the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso in the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi in the North-East.

The Legal Directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, while Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris will coordinate the Media and Strategic Communication Directorate.

Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu were also assigned coordinating roles within the media directorate.

The campaign named five spokespersons, led by Alake, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda completing the team.

Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to deliver victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

The President said the party would highlight its achievements in office and present its economic progress as the basis for seeking another mandate from Nigerians.
