Eid-el-Fitr

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced that its offices in Abuja and Lagos will be closed in observance of the Eid-el-Fitr holiday.

In a notice posted on its official website, the embassy said the closure is in line with both U.S. and Nigerian public holiday schedules.

The embassy stated that normal operations will resume after the holiday period.

Consular services, including visa interviews and passport collections, will not be available during the closure, but emergency services for American citizens will remain accessible.

The embassy advised applicants with scheduled appointments to check for updated dates.

Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is widely celebrated across Nigeria.

The U.S. mission extended greetings to Muslims and wished Nigerians a peaceful celebration.

Diplomatic missions in Nigeria often observe major national and religious holidays in accordance with local regulations.

Security officials said adequate measures have been put in place around foreign missions during the festive period.
