The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has admitted that he struggles to speak English fluently, disclosing that he is currently taking lessons to improve his communication skills.

MC Oluomo made the revelation on Tuesday while addressing supporters at a rally organised in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the gathering, the transport union leader acknowledged that he and Nollywood actor and political commentator, Lege Miami, were not fluent in English.

He disclosed that his difficulty with the language sometimes forced him to depend on his children to communicate on his behalf, particularly when he found it challenging to express himself clearly in English.

According to him, he was making deliberate efforts to overcome the challenge by attending classes to improve his proficiency in the language.

The admission drew attention to his communication abilities, particularly given his prominent position in the transport sector and growing involvement in political activities.

MC Oluomo, who has become an influential figure in Nigeria’s transport union leadership, has maintained a visible presence in political gatherings and activities associated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

His appearance at Tuesday’s rally was part of activities aimed at mobilising support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The NURTW president has been a prominent supporter of the President and has participated in political mobilisation efforts, particularly among transport workers and grassroots supporters.

His comments also brought Nollywood actor Lege Miami into the discussion, as he acknowledged that both men shared similar challenges with speaking English fluently.

Lege Miami, whose real name is Adams Kehinde, is known for his involvement in Yoruba-language entertainment and his frequent political commentaries and interviews with public figures.

MC Oluomo’s disclosure has drawn attention to the importance of language proficiency in public communication, especially for individuals holding prominent leadership positions.

However, his decision to enrol in classes to improve his English suggests a willingness to address the challenge rather than allow it to limit his ability to communicate.

The transport union leader did not disclose how long he had been taking the lessons or when he expected to attain the level of fluency he desired.

His remarks came amid increasing political activities and mobilisation by supporters of President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
