Vice-President Kashim Shettima has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated second term will usher in an era of harvest, insisting that the economic reforms introduced by the administration will begin to deliver greater benefits to Nigerians.

Shettima made the declaration on Monday, November 2, 2026, during an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State, where he called on residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

According to the Vice-President, the administration has already undertaken the difficult decisions required to reposition the Nigerian economy, adding that the next phase of governance would focus on translating the sacrifices associated with the reforms into tangible improvements in citizens’ lives.

He maintained that the economic reset initiated by Tinubu had reached a critical stage, expressing confidence that the policies would create opportunities for economic expansion, increased investment and improved national prosperity.

Shettima described the reforms as necessary interventions designed to address longstanding structural challenges in the Nigerian economy, arguing that the government had laid the foundation for sustainable development.

He said Nigerians should expect greater benefits from the administration’s policies as ongoing infrastructure projects and economic initiatives begin to produce results.

The Vice-President also highlighted the Federal Government’s infrastructure investments in Cross River State, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, describing the state as one of the beneficiaries of Tinubu’s economic development agenda.

He argued that the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development would improve connectivity, stimulate commercial activities and create employment opportunities across different parts of the country.

Shettima also appealed to residents of Cross River to support Governor Bassey Otu and other APC candidates, presenting the party’s leadership as a platform for continued development.

The rally was attended by APC leaders and supporters, including the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside other political stakeholders.

The Vice-President’s declaration comes as the ruling party intensifies political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the administration increasingly highlighting its economic policies and infrastructure projects as central elements of its re-election campaign.

However, the promise of an era of harvest comes amid continuing concerns over the cost of living, inflation, unemployment and the purchasing power of Nigerian households.

For many citizens, the ultimate assessment of the reforms will depend on whether economic growth translates into lower living costs, better incomes, improved public services and increased employment opportunities.

Shettima’s remarks therefore represent both a defence of the administration’s economic direction and a political appeal for Nigerians to give Tinubu another opportunity to complete his development agenda.
