Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has commenced consultations and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a focus on strengthening support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Yari’s early engagement with party stakeholders and grassroots structures signals an attempt by the APC to begin preparations well ahead of the election season, particularly by consolidating existing support networks and addressing areas where the party may need stronger mobilisation.

The former Zamfara State governor is expected to use the consultations to engage party leaders, political stakeholders and grassroots supporters as the APC begins laying the organisational groundwork for Tinubu’s campaign.

The mobilisation comes against the backdrop of an increasingly competitive political environment, with opposition politicians and emerging political alliances already positioning themselves for the 2027 contest.

Yari’s role as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council places him at the centre of the party’s efforts to coordinate political structures and translate support for the administration into electoral strength.

The consultations are also expected to provide an opportunity for party leaders to assess the APC’s grassroots structures, identify areas requiring renewed engagement and strengthen coordination among stakeholders.

For the ruling party, early mobilisation could be critical to maintaining cohesion across its national structure, particularly as politicians begin positioning themselves for elective offices and alliances ahead of the elections.

Tinubu’s administration is expected to remain the central focus of the APC’s campaign strategy as the party seeks to present its record in office and convince voters to extend its mandate beyond 2027.

The emerging campaign preparations are taking place at a time when political realignments are becoming more visible, with opposition figures exploring cooperation and new platforms ahead of the elections.

Yari’s consultations therefore represent more than an early campaign activity, as the APC seeks to keep its political machinery active while building a coordinated nationwide structure.

With the 2027 elections still ahead, the effectiveness of the mobilisation effort will depend on the party’s ability to maintain unity, manage competing interests and sustain grassroots engagement as the political contest intensifies.
