Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has assured President Bola Tinubu of the state’s support in the 2027 presidential election, promising that the All Progressives Congress will work to secure votes through grassroots mobilisation and political engagement.

Uzodinma gave the assurance in Owerri during the distribution of campaign vehicles to party supporters, where he urged APC members to intensify mobilisation and strengthen the party’s presence across the state ahead of the next general election.

The governor’s declaration signals the APC’s efforts to consolidate its political base in Imo and demonstrate support for Tinubu as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.

Uzodinma described the party as dominant in the state and expressed confidence in its ability to mobilise voters for the president’s re-election bid.

The distribution of campaign vehicles is intended to support political coordination and facilitate outreach to communities, party members and prospective voters across the state’s local government areas.

Effective mobilisation will be important for the APC as political parties begin positioning themselves for a contest expected to involve debates over economic performance, security, infrastructure, employment and the welfare of Nigerians.

For Tinubu’s supporters, assurances from state governors provide an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of the governing party’s network and its capacity to organise campaigns at the grassroots level.

However, the governor’s pledge remains a political commitment rather than a guarantee of the eventual election result. The votes cast in 2027 will depend on voter preferences, campaign performance, electoral participation and the conduct of a credible election.

Imo occupies an important position in the South-East, where political parties have sought to strengthen their influence through engagement with traditional institutions, community leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders.

Uzodinma’s backing could help the APC organise its campaign structures in the state, particularly if party leaders translate their declarations into sustained engagement with voters.

The campaign vehicle distribution also highlights the logistical requirements of election mobilisation, including transportation, communication, coordination and the deployment of campaign teams across different communities.

Beyond providing campaign resources, the party will need to communicate its policy proposals and explain how its programmes are expected to address the concerns of residents.

Economic conditions are likely to remain a significant consideration for voters, particularly issues relating to food prices, employment, infrastructure, energy costs and access to public services.

The APC’s ability to retain and expand its support will therefore depend not only on endorsements from political leaders but also on how voters assess the performance of the federal and state governments.

For Uzodinma, the assurance to Tinubu reinforces his position within the president’s political support base and signals his willingness to contribute to the party’s national campaign.

The mobilisation effort may also provide an opportunity for the APC to strengthen internal coordination and prepare its members for the organisational demands of the election period.

As 2027 approaches, further political engagements, campaign activities and alliances are expected to shape the contest across Nigeria.

Uzodinma’s declaration places Imo among the states where the APC intends to consolidate its support for Tinubu, although the strength of that support will ultimately be determined at the ballot box.
