APC Wins All 17 Chairmanship Seats In Yobe

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 17 chairmanship seats in the Yobe State local government elections conducted across the state on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC) announced the results on Sunday at its headquarters in Damaturu, with the commission’s chairman, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani, declaring the exercise successful.

Yabani said the election was conducted across the state’s 17 local government areas and 178 electoral wards, with 10 political parties participating and fielding candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions.

According to him, voting, counting and collation were completed after the polls, with councillorship results declared at ward-level collation centres, while chairmanship results were announced at the respective local government collation centres.

“This robust participation reflects how keenly contested the elections were in several local government areas in the state,” Yabani said.

The results showed APC candidates emerging victorious in all the 17 local government areas.

Among those declared winners were Musa Kalan Dagona in Bade with 54,312 votes, Lawan Bukar in Bursari with 24,331 votes, Bukar Adamu in Damaturu with 18,465 votes, Abdulmumin Usani in Fika with 61,326 votes and Baba-Goni Bade in Fune with 74,411 votes.

Mohammed Musa won in Geidam with 35,832 votes, while Dala Mala secured victory in Gujba with 27,900 votes. Dayyabu Ilu won Gulani with 35,999 votes, Umaru Aguya emerged victorious in Jakusko with 47,653 votes and Umara Mohammed won Karasuwa with 39,320 votes.

In other results, Idriss Mai Bukar won Machina with 24,092 votes, Samaila Musa secured Nangere with 37,780 votes, while Mohammed Malami won Nguru with 45,836 votes.

Salisu Muktari emerged victorious in Potiskum with 58,705 votes, Mohammed Musa won Tarmuwa with 19,500 votes, Zanna Zakaria secured Yunusari with 35,848 votes and Adam Jibrin won Yusufari with 31,930 votes.

Despite the APC’s sweep of the chairmanship positions, opposition parties secured two councillorship seats. The Action Peoples Party (APP) won one seat in Fune, while the Action Democratic Party (ADP) secured another in Karasuwa.

The YOSIEC chairman described the overall exercise as hitch-free, while the commission proceeded with the formal announcement of the results following the conclusion of voting and collation across the state.
