For 15 remarkable years, the Capacity Development, Skill Enhancement Initiative and Empowerment Training has remained a shining example of what can happen when people are given the knowledge, skills and opportunity to build better lives.

The 15th anniversary celebration and graduation ceremony was a colourful and inspiring occasion, bringing together graduates, families, trainers, partners and supporters to celebrate a journey defined by transformation, resilience and hope.

At the heart of the initiative is its founder, Olatunji Odewumi, whose vision has helped sustain the programme through 15 years of empowering individuals with practical skills and the confidence to become self-reliant.

Under Odewumi’s leadership, the initiative has continued to emphasise the importance of capacity building as a pathway to economic independence. Rather than simply providing temporary assistance, the programme seeks to equip participants with skills they can use to create opportunities, establish businesses and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The graduation ceremony provided a powerful reminder of that philosophy. For the latest set of graduates, the presentation of certificates represented far more than the completion of a training programme. Many of the participants began their journey with dreams but limited opportunities. Through training, mentorship and exposure to practical skills, they were able to transform those dreams into tangible abilities.

It was also an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of trainers, volunteers, partners and supporters who have contributed to the success of the initiative over the years. Their collective efforts have helped create an environment where participants can learn, grow and believe in their own potential.

For Odewumi, the journey represents a continuing commitment to human development and the conviction that sustainable empowerment begins by giving people the tools to succeed.

As the graduates stepped forward to receive their certificates, the message was clear: the certificate is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new chapter.

The real success of the programme will ultimately be reflected in the businesses created, families supported, jobs generated and communities strengthened by its graduates.

Fifteen years after the initiative began, its story remains one of hope and possibility a story of people discovering their abilities and being encouraged to put them to work.

The celebration therefore looked both backward and forward: backward with gratitude for 15 years of achievement, and forward with renewed determination to empower even more people.

In celebrating its 15th year, the Capacity Development, Skill Enhancement Initiative and Empowerment Training has demonstrated that meaningful change is built one person, one skill and one opportunity at a time.

And as another generation of graduates begins its journey, the legacy founded by Olatunji Odewumi continues to grow proving that when knowledge meets opportunity, lives can be transformed and communities can thrive.
