The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has announced a record revenue collection of N323bn in July 2026, the highest monthly figure ever posted by the command.
The Customs Area Controller, Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed this during a monthly meeting with Deputy Comptrollers of Terminals and Unit Heads held last week. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Isah, confirmed the figure in a statement on Saturday.
The July record surpasses the command’s previous high of N304bn, which was also set under Oshoba’s watch in October 2025.

Oshoba attributed the performance to policy support, operational reforms and improved compliance, and singled out the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for commendation. “We recognise and acknowledge the CGC’s devotion and dedication to the modernisation project of the NCS. The management team has introduced several innovations that have streamlined our activities and given us clear direction,” he said.
The CAC highlighted several reforms driving the numbers, including improvements to the B’Odogwu system, which had previously faced challenges, and the One-Stop Shop initiative, which he said has accelerated cargo delivery and made the trading environment more predictable. He also pointed to the Authorised Economic Operator framework, which now has more than 200 beneficiaries, as a major contributor to the command’s revenue growth.
On enforcement, Oshoba said intelligence-led operations have strengthened compliance, with officers intensifying efforts to detect false declarations and uphold the service’s valuation principles.
He also credited the relative stability in the foreign exchange market under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying a more predictable forex regime had enabled businesses to plan and trade with greater confidence.
Beyond the numbers, Oshoba urged his officers to be intentional about their individual contributions and maintain professionalism in their dealings with stakeholders. “When you interact with stakeholders, let them leave your office with hope rather than despair,” he said. “As a leader, do not allow anyone who comes to you to depart feeling hopeless or depressed. Give people hope.”
