President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday assured Nigerians of improved electricity supply, intensified security efforts, and sustained collaboration between federal and state governments, as he commended Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri for delivering “transformative projects” across the state.

Speaking during his visit to Bayelsa State, Tinubu said the projects he commissioned, including roads, bridges, and an independent power plant, reflect purposeful leadership and demonstrate how development accelerates when governments work together toward shared goals.

He pledged that his administration would continue to strengthen Nigeria’s power sector, noting that stable electricity remains central to industrial growth, job creation, and economic development.

“There can be no industrialisation, skill development, or empowerment without power,” the president said, assuring citizens that efforts are underway to deliver reliable electricity nationwide.

On security, Tinubu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to defeating terrorism and banditry, stating that the military would continue to receive training and support to tackle emerging threats.

The president also acknowledged the economic hardship facing Nigerians, particularly rising fuel costs, but stressed that the government is working on measures to ease the burden on vulnerable citizens. He attributed current challenges partly to global economic pressures, adding that Nigeria would continue to adapt and pursue long-term growth.

Tinubu praised Governor Diri’s leadership style, describing it as progressive and people-focused, and pledged federal support for further development initiatives in the state. He highlighted ongoing discussions around infrastructure funding, including requests for federal intervention on key roads.

The president emphasized that infrastructure projects not only improve connectivity but also generate employment across sectors, from construction to supply chains, thereby boosting local economies.

Welcoming the president, Diri had earlier underscored the importance of federal backing for critical infrastructure in the oil-rich state.

Tinubu concluded by urging continued unity and cooperation among all levels of government, expressing confidence that Nigeria would overcome its challenges and achieve sustainable growth.

He also paid tribute to former Bayelsa governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, honoring his service and legacy.
