The Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) has commenced plans for its 2026 Annual Transport Summit, aimed at addressing critical issues across Nigeria’s transportation and logistics value chain.

The summit, scheduled to hold in Lagos in September, will be held under the theme “Unlocking Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics.” It is expected to bring together key stakeholders from aviation, maritime, rail, and road transport sectors, as well as logistics service providers, policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, and development partners.

In a statement issued over the weekend, TCAN said the conference would examine how efficient transportation logistics can drive sustainable economic growth, enhance trade facilitation, create jobs, and strengthen regional integration.

Chairman of TCAN, Tola Adenubi, described transportation logistics as the backbone of economic development, noting that efficiency across the logistics chain—from port cargo handling to inland freight and last-mile delivery—remains vital to Nigeria’s global competitiveness.

He added that the summit would explore strategies to optimise the sector, including digital transformation, infrastructure financing, public-private partnerships, and improved regulatory frameworks.

Also speaking, Chairman of the 2026 Conference Committee, Suleiman Idris, said the event would feature high-level panel discussions, keynote addresses, and interactive sessions focused on assessing the current state of Nigeria’s transportation logistics architecture.

According to him, stakeholders will identify bottlenecks affecting seamless cargo and passenger movement, evaluate the impact of multimodal transport integration on economic expansion, and highlight investment opportunities within the logistics and supply chain ecosystem.

He added that the summit would also generate policy recommendations aimed at improving efficiency and boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade.

As part of the event, TCAN will honour outstanding government agencies and industry operators with its Champions of Transport Industry Development (COTID) awards in recognition of their contributions to the sector.

Over the years, the TCAN Annual Transport Summit has evolved into a credible platform for dialogue between government institutions and logistics operators, helping to shape policy direction and promote transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s transportation industry.
