The Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Abimbola Akinajo, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration, as she received the leadership of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, led by Sunday Ogunfowora.

The high-level meeting focused on fostering closer cooperation between both institutions to improve transport regulation and service delivery across Lagos.

Speaking during the engagement, Akinajo reflected on LAMATA’s evolution, noting that its vision, conceived during the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Governor of Lagos State, remains relevant and continues to guide the agency’s operations.

She stressed the importance of civic responsibility, urging NULGE members to support efforts aimed at preserving the integrity of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.

According to her, the dedicated BRT lanes are reserved for high-capacity buses to ensure safe, efficient, and timely movement of commuters.

“The BRT lanes are meant to prioritize mass transit and improve mobility across the city. Compliance with established transport regulations is essential for achieving this goal,” she said.

Both parties concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to deepening collaboration, enhancing commuter experience, and delivering mutual benefits for public sector workers and the broader Lagos community.
