Jake Paul

American boxer and social media personality Jake Paul has revealed he underwent a second surgical procedure on his jaw following injuries sustained in his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua.

Paul, 29, suffered a double fracture of the jaw during a sixth-round knockout defeat against Joshua on December 19. The bout, which saw Joshua dominate throughout, marked Paul’s first defeat since his loss to Tommy Fury in 2023.

Following the initial injury in December, Paul had titanium plates and screws inserted into his jaw and was restricted to a liquid diet for a week.

However, the fighter took to Instagram recently to announce that he had to return to the operating room after returning to the United States from Europe.

“Had to get another jaw surgery,” Paul wrote on his Instagram page. “The screws and plates were coming loose because apparently I didn’t rest for the past 2 months whaattttttttt.”

Before the second surgery, Paul had spent two weeks in Milan supporting his fiancée, Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam, during the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Leerdam enjoyed a highly successful campaign, securing a gold medal in the women’s 1000 meters and a silver in the 500m. Paul was reportedly seen in an emotional celebration following her gold medal victory.

To share the news of his recovery, Paul posted images of himself in a hospital bed and a wheelchair. He also included AI-generated videos showing a bionic, mechanical jaw mechanism to engage his followers, adding, “Ask how I get millions of views. Pretty wild, right?”

The injury brought a temporary halt to Paul’s momentum in the ring, where he had recently recorded victories over notable figures such as Mike Tyson and Anderson Silva.
