President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian football administrator, Samson Adamu, on his appointment as Acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), describing it as a landmark achievement for Nigeria and West Africa.

Adamu’s appointment, announced on March 29, 2025, marks the first time a Nigerian will occupy the position since CAF was established in 1957. He previously served as CAF’s Director of Tournaments and Events before stepping into the role following the departure of Veron Mosengo-Omba.

President Tinubu said the development is a significant milestone for Nigerian sports and a reflection of the country’s growing influence in African football administration.
