Para Games

The National Sports Commission has opened the official online registration portal for the 3rd National Para Games, scheduled to hold from March 26 to April 3, 2026, as preparations gather momentum for Nigeria’s flagship para-sport event.

The Commission announced that the portal became active on Wednesday, February 17, 2026, urging all participating states and stakeholders to complete athlete and official entries within the stipulated timeframe. Officials emphasised that early compliance is essential to avoid administrative delays that could affect accreditation and participation.

According to the NSC, the conclusion of the online registration phase will be followed by two critical administrative exercises — the Pre-Delegation Registration Meeting (Pre-DRM) and the Delegation Registration Meeting (DRM). These stages are designed to verify submissions, correct discrepancies, and formally confirm eligible participants ahead of the Games.

The Pre-DRM, the Commission explained, will focus on preliminary verification of entries submitted via the portal. It will include the reconciliation of athletes’ data, confirmation of sports selected by each state, resolution of documentation issues, and briefings for State Desk Officers responsible for accreditation coordination.

Subsequently, the DRM will serve as the final validation phase. During this stage, states will present required documents for athletes and officials, while NSC authorities will complete eligibility checks and issue accreditation clearance for approved participants.

The Commission described accreditation as a central operational pillar of the Games, noting that it ensures accurate identification, controlled access, enhanced security, and efficient coordination of athletes, officials, technical teams, media personnel, and support staff throughout the competition.

In a significant boost to logistics planning, the NSC announced that the National Youth Service Corps has released its Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, to function as the official Games Village. The arrangement follows what the Commission termed a “strategic inter-agency collaboration” aimed at guaranteeing a conducive and athlete-friendly environment.

NSC officials said the Kubwa facility would provide accommodation and centralised services for participants, contributing to smoother event management and improved welfare conditions.

Reaffirming its objectives, the Commission stated that the 3rd National Para Games will prioritise inclusivity, fairness, and competitive excellence while strengthening the development of para sports nationwide.

“The Games represent a vital platform for talent discovery, national integration, and the promotion of equal sporting opportunities,” an NSC representative said.

The Commission encouraged all participating states to adhere strictly to registration and accreditation timelines, stressing that compliance would support seamless organisation and a successful championship.

Stakeholders across the para-sport community have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a positive step toward delivering another landmark edition of the national event.
