Former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has issued a cautionary message to Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed amid rising tensions within the African Democratic Congress.

In a strongly worded statement, Kwankwaso warned that political miscalculations within the party could lead to isolation and loss of influence. He used the metaphor of a “lizard falling from a tree,” suggesting that leaders who act without broad support risk being left exposed.

The remarks come at a time when the ADC is grappling with internal disagreements over leadership structure, party direction, and strategy ahead of future elections. Sources within the party indicate that factions have emerged, each pushing competing interests.

Kwankwaso urged party leaders to prioritise unity and dialogue, stressing that internal cohesion is essential for any political organisation seeking to remain relevant. He noted that unresolved conflicts could weaken the party’s ability to compete effectively on the national stage.

Political observers say the warning reflects broader concerns about instability within emerging political platforms in Nigeria. They argue that without clear leadership and consensus-building mechanisms, such parties may struggle to maintain momentum.

Efforts are reportedly ongoing behind the scenes to reconcile differences, with senior stakeholders engaging in consultations aimed at restoring order within the party.
