Troops of the Nigerian military have overrun several terrorist camps in Borno State, thwarting what security sources described as a planned major assault on civilian communities.
The coordinated operation targeted enclaves used by insurgents for logistics, training and planning. Military sources said several terrorists were neutralised, while weapons and equipment were recovered.
According to the military, the operation followed actionable intelligence on insurgent movements and plans to attack nearby towns. Troops engaged the terrorists in intense battles, forcing them to flee.
Residents in affected areas expressed relief, noting that the operation likely prevented mass casualties. Security patrols have since been intensified to prevent regrouping.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace in the North-East, urging residents to continue providing timely intelligence.
Security analysts say sustained pressure on terrorist camps remains key to weakening insurgent capabilities.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to stabilise Borno and ensure the safe return of displaced persons.
