Turkish football giants Beşiktaş have intensified their efforts to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Tolu Arokodare by enlisting the help of former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi and current Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi.
The strategic move comes amid mounting speculation surrounding the future of the 25-year-old forward. Arokodare’s current campaign in the English Premier League has been fraught with difficulties, as Wolves languish at the bottom of the table and stare down the looming threat of relegation.
To persuade the Nigerian striker to make the switch to the Süper Lig, Beşiktaş is heavily relying on familiar figures within Nigerian football.
The club believes that Daniel Amokachi, who enjoyed a celebrated stint at Beşiktaş between 1996 and 2000, will serve as the perfect reference.
According to Turkish sports outlet SporX, Amokachi’s legendary status in Nigerian football and his historical ties to the Istanbul-based club could be the key to presenting the move as a culturally comfortable and professionally rewarding step for Arokodare.

“Daniel Amokachi… will serve as a reference for Tolu Arokodare. He is among the unforgettable names in Nigerian football and will play a role in persuading Arokodare,” the outlet reported.
Furthermore, Beşiktaş is pointing to the recent and immense success of Nigerian forwards in the Turkish top flight.
The club is using the prolific scoring records of players like Paul Onuachu at Trabzonspor and Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray as proof that Arokodare’s physical profile and playing style would thrive in Turkey.
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is also expected to throw his weight behind the move, offering guidance and support to his compatriot regarding the potential transfer.
Arokodare joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Belgian outfit Genk in a €26 million deal and is contracted to the English side until June 2029. Despite Wolves’ overall dismal performance this season, the striker has managed to contribute six goals and two assists in 32 appearances.
With his current club facing immense pressure and potential demotion, Arokodare is reportedly open to new offers, especially from teams competing in European competitions. Beşiktaş is eager to capitalize on this uncertainty.
The Turkish club is actively looking to bolster its attacking options for the upcoming season, reportedly planning to pair Arokodare with South Korean forward Hyeon-gyu Oh in a newly revamped frontline.
As negotiations progress, the coming weeks will determine whether Arokodare will become the next Nigerian star to leave his mark on the Turkish Süper Lig.
