The Federal Government will convene the National Economic Council (NEC) Conference on Monday, February 9, 2026, in Abuja to strengthen economic coordination and promote inclusive growth across Nigeria’s 36 states.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs the NEC, will preside over the two-day summit at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa. The conference, themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan,” is expected to provide policy directions aligning states with the federal government’s long-term economic agenda.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, is convening the event, which will bring together governors, development partners, private-sector leaders, and top government officials. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend as Special Guest of Honour.

Dr. Deborah O. N. Odoh, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and NEC Secretary, said the conference will focus on “national economic issues aimed at encouraging economic growth and development across the country.”

Key discussions will cover fiscal coordination, investment mobilisation, and shared development strategies between federal and state governments as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda reforms.

The NEC Conference underscores the federal government’s commitment to inclusive economic growth and sustainable development, providing a platform for states to align with national priorities and address pressing macroeconomic challenges.
