Two people were confirmed dead on Saturday after a head-on collision between a commercial bus and a truck along the Ososa axis of the Sagamu–Benin Expressway in Ogun State. The accident, which occurred in the afternoon, caused significant traffic disruption on the busy highway.
Spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He said the crash involved 21 occupants across both vehicles a yellow Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BDG 274YG and a blue Benz truck registered AKD 115YL.

According to Akinbiyi, preliminary findings show that the collision occurred when one of the vehicles veered off its lane, resulting in a direct impact. Emergency responders from TRACE and other agencies were deployed to the scene to manage traffic and move the victims.
He disclosed that two individuals died on the spot, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the morgue.
Akinbiyi urged motorists to exercise caution, especially on highways with ongoing construction works and increased holiday traffic. He added that TRACE officials would continue routine patrols to ensure safer road use across Ogun State.
