President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has adjusted his nationwide tour schedule to prioritise a visit to Jos, Plateau State, following rising security concerns in the area.

Sources within the presidency revealed that the decision was taken after recent violent incidents in parts of Plateau, which have drawn national attention and concern. The president is expected to meet with local leaders, security chiefs, and community representatives to assess the situation firsthand.

During the visit, Tinubu will also hold a closed-door meeting with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and heads of security agencies. The aim is to review ongoing operations and explore lasting solutions to the recurring clashes in the region.

Residents of Jos have expressed mixed reactions ahead of the visit. While some see it as a welcome move that could bring federal attention and intervention, others remain cautious, noting that previous visits by top officials have not always led to lasting peace.

The presidency says Tinubu’s decision reflects his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity across the country. Officials added that the president is determined to ensure that communities affected by violence receive both immediate support and long-term protection.

Security has been tightened across Jos in preparation for the visit, with increased patrols and checkpoints already visible in key areas.

Analysts believe the visit could signal a shift toward more direct presidential engagement in resolving local conflicts. Many are watching closely to see what concrete measures will emerge from the meetings.

The president is expected to address the nation or issue a statement after the visit, outlining steps the federal government will take to restore peace in Plateau State.
