President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has praised the efforts of security agencies following the rescue of 100 students abducted from Papiri Catholic School in Niger State. The students were freed weeks after they were kidnapped by armed attackers during a school raid on November 21.

In a statement released by the Presidency, Tinubu celebrated their safe return and lauded Governor Umar Bago and the security operatives who coordinated the operation that led to their recovery.

Despite the progress, over 115 students and teachers from the same school remain in captivity. Tinubu directed security agencies to intensify operations to ensure their immediate release and vowed that the government would not relent until every abducted victim across the country is accounted for.

The President reassured parents and guardians that collaboration between the Federal Government and the Niger State Government is ongoing to reunite all families with their children and staff.

He also issued a fresh order to security authorities and state governors to strengthen protective measures around schools. According to Tinubu, the safety of students must become a priority to prevent further attacks that traumatize communities and disrupt learning.

“Our children must not remain vulnerable targets for terrorists,” the statement quoted him as saying. “We will continue to secure schools and create a safe learning environment for every child in Nigeria.”

The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring that education continues without fear in all parts of the country.
