Claude Le Roy

Former Senegal coach Claude Le Roy has broken his silence over reports linking him to the controversial walkout involving Senegalese players, clarifying the message he allegedly sent to star forward Sadio Mané.

Speaking during an interview, Le Roy denied encouraging any form of protest, stating that his message to Mané was misunderstood and taken out of context. He said his intention was to promote dialogue and calm amid growing tensions.

The walkout, which sparked widespread debate across African football, raised questions about player-coach relationships and national team management. Le Roy said such incidents highlighted deeper issues within football administration.

He praised Mané’s professionalism and leadership, insisting the Liverpool star remained committed to Senegal’s success. According to him, external narratives unfairly dragged Mané into controversy.

Football analysts believe Le Roy’s comments may help ease tensions, especially as Senegal looks ahead to major international competitions.

The Senegalese Football Federation has yet to comment on Le Roy’s remarks, but fans remain divided over the episode.
