Muhammadu Sanusi II, Alex Otti

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has praised Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, for what he described as remarkable achievements recorded within two years of his administration, noting that the impact of the governor’s reforms has attracted attention beyond the state and Nigeria.

Sanusi made the remarks while speaking at a public event, where he highlighted Abia’s visible transformation under Otti’s leadership. According to the former Central Bank governor, the pace and scale of development in the state have set it apart, making it a reference point for good governance.

He said that the changes taking place in Abia have not gone unnoticed, stressing that observers from other parts of Nigeria and even outside the country are paying close attention to the progress being made.

“Even outside Abia and Nigeria, people have taken note of what has happened in the last two years,” Sanusi said. “The transformation is evident, and it speaks to a clear vision, discipline and commitment to service.”

The Emir commended Otti for prioritising transparency and accountability in governance, describing these principles as essential foundations for sustainable development. He noted that prudent management of resources has enabled the Abia government to execute key projects despite prevailing economic challenges.

Sanusi also applauded the governor’s focus on infrastructure, economic reforms and public service delivery, saying these efforts have helped restore public confidence in government. He added that such reforms are crucial for attracting investment and creating long-term economic stability.

In his response, Governor Otti expressed gratitude for the commendation, describing it as an encouragement to do more. He said his administration remains committed to rebuilding Abia through responsible governance, fiscal discipline and inclusive development.

Otti reiterated that his government’s development agenda is centred on improving the welfare of residents, expanding economic opportunities and laying a solid foundation for future growth. He added that the administration would continue to engage stakeholders to ensure policies are people-focused and sustainable.

The commendation from the Emir of Kano adds to a growing list of endorsements for the Abia governor, as debates on governance and performance continue to shape national discourse. Observers say the recognition underscores the increasing emphasis on accountability and measurable results in public office.
