Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, is set to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, January 2, 2026, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to the Ward Chairman of PDP, Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area, Governor Mutfwang announced his withdrawal from the party with immediate effect.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the Governor stated. He added that his decision was guided by a commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and effective service delivery, necessitating a new political platform to further his governance objectives.
Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing the platform to pursue his political aspirations, thanking party members and supporters for their loyalty and support over the years.
According to the Governor, joining the APC is a strategic move aimed at better aligning Plateau State’s development objectives with the policies and programmes of the Federal Government. He said this alignment would accelerate growth and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.

He reiterated his commitment to purposeful leadership, inclusive governance, and unity across Plateau State, emphasizing that bridging divisions remains central to achieving sustainable development.
The formal registration and presentation of the APC membership card to Governor Mutfwang will take place at Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2. Following the ceremony, the Governor will proceed to the Plateau State Secretariat of the APC at Kalwa House, Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos, to formally engage with party leaders and members.
All party faithful, political associates, supporters, and well-wishers are invited to witness the historic occasion, marking a significant political development in Plateau State.
