The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence and unity as a foundation for national prosperity, stressing that harmony among citizens is essential for the country’s progress.

She made the call in Kaduna during the annual distribution of food items to members of the Christian Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF) to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Citing the Bible, the First Lady noted that God commands blessings where people live together in unity, adding that despite prevailing global and national challenges, she remains optimistic about Nigeria’s future.

Senator Tinubu urged citizens to remain committed to nation-building, saying positive changes were already taking place. She also commended the Kaduna State Government for deliberate efforts at fostering religious harmony, describing the state as a model other parts of the country should emulate.

Calling on Nigerians to see themselves as one family, the First Lady said true development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect. She thanked Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, his wife, Hajia Hafsat Uba Sani, and the people of the state for their hospitality and for demonstrating peaceful coexistence across religious and ethnic lines.

She also used the occasion to commend members of Nigeria’s creative industry for projecting the country positively on the global stage. According to her, their growing influence should be leveraged to support national development, adding that she was open to partnerships that would help uplift more Nigerians.

In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady as leaders driven by service, compassion, and unity. He said the First Lady’s philanthropy stands out for its inclusiveness, noting that her support cuts across religious, ethnic, and regional divides. According to him, her actions reflect the values of empathy and shared responsibility that strengthen national cohesion.

Benue State Governor, Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia, also praised the Kaduna State Government, saying the state has enjoyed greater peace due to the governor’s determination and leadership, inspired by the example of President Tinubu.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, assured Nigerians that ongoing initiatives of the APC-led Federal Government and state governments would translate into a better 2026 for the country.

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of the CNNPF, Ibrahim Itodo, commended President Tinubu for sustaining national unity and prayed for his successful re-election in 2027. He urged northern governors to adopt Kaduna State’s approach to promoting peaceful coexistence.

The annual food distribution, a collaboration between the Office of the First Lady and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, benefitted over 48,000 people from 19 northern states this year.
